Lord Marrowgar HM!
Written by Hugor
Thursday, 4 March 2010

Hey hey,

We all got excited about starting the hardmodes tonight, after defeating the Lich King last week, and we were eager to face Lord Marrowgar (after a challenging 10man event - poop setup!), but after the first Bonestorm we were a bit disappointed has with the usual healing stack the fight just became trivial, and we didn't kill it on the 1st try cos we got overly distracted by the poopiness we were facing. Anyway, close wipe, and a first kill on the following try.

NO PIC
Since it's just the same shitty fight all over again.

We then went for Lady Deathwhisper right after, and hell, that's what i call a real hard mode! People are already naming her Muru 2.0, and rightfully so. We had a rough night, but progress was made, and we expect a kill soon enough, stay tuned! That one will be worth a pic!

The King is dead.

Alas, the King is dead.

Today marks an amazing feat for Corruption, having pursued the Arthas Menethil/Lich King storyline in the Warcraft universe for a long time, and finally having the opportunity to face the Lich King alongside Highlord Tirion Fordring in what i consider to be an epic encounter.

The fight, not being incredibly hard, is very punishing and very unforgiving, with any distraction pretty much causing a wipe. It is also very intensive on the damage required and healing assignements - specially when we have to deal with curve balls we weren't expecting and that threw us of our game plan. Apart from all that? It's one hell of a ride, and i'm glad to have been a part of it.

As for the fight itself, we took a couple of nights until we finally defeated Arthas, mostly because of the poor shape some of our players have had their internet connections recently - me included, and also the server lag that we've been having to endure... there's not much we can do about it apart from complaining right? Anyway, we have had 'near-kills' on previous nights, not being able to manage on some mistakes that were made (dying on the frostmourne room, a terribly placed defile, etc), or simply having a tank/healer disconnect at the worst possible time...

Tonights' raid was off to a shaky beginning, as we started off with massive disconnects throughout the first attempts, losing 3-4-5 people during the starting phase of the fight... aswell has a couple of attempts where the server lag made it completely unplayable and we didn't even pass phase 1... As the night progressed, the server stabilizied and our ISPs allowed us to play, and we steadily improved upon each try, finally grabbing a deserve kill - not without drama though!

The kill attempt was quite a rollercoaster near the end, as we went through most of the fight without any issue, and apart some shaky defiles, everything fell in order, and everyone played their part, but the real fun started in the last phase - well, fun now, wouldn't be as much fun if we had wiped!. As the boss was around 20-25%, we had an unfortunate event at the Frostmourne room, causing the Lich King to enrage, and proceed to one-shot our tanks. Lucky enough, we popped some battle rez's just in time, and we were able to bounce back, having lost a high number of dpsers in the process, making the end of the fight excruciating... So, the last 10% were just a exciting ride trying to take him down while dealing with the vile spirits, while trying to keep calm under the pressure of the that illusive first kill. We were fortunate enough, and relief was obvious when the Lich King reached 10%, and killed us all with the Fury of Frostmourne, triggering the end-fight animation....

The King is dead, a new king is born.

Its kind of usual to see guilds posting their meters on first kills, so we hopped on the 'meter-train' and decided to post our 1st kill results to whoever might be interested :

Next week will be a very exciting one, as we will have all the hard modes unlocked for Icecrown Citadel, and we're in for some extremely hard fights. Stay tuned for news, and show your support!

See you soon!

Apoio à Madeira
Written by Hugor
Tuesday, 23 February 2010

Sindragosa defeated... the Lich King awaits.
Written by Hugor
Wednesday, 10 February 2010

Hello!

Today was a very exciting raiding day for Corruption, with a lot going on throughout the night. We started out the raid with the news that the limited attempts were getting removed from the normal mode version of the end-wing bosses and Arthas, which was a bit frustrating. A lot of effort was being put on each attempt, with near-perfect setup and extra demand on awareness, and just when things are getting better, and we're able to clear the end-wing bosses quickly without wasting much tries... BAM, attempts removed, and every guild can just bang their heads at the bosses 100510510 times until the bosses are defeated, without much thought attempt to attempt... oh well, what hapenned to the "we'll throw more attempts each week to the guilds with difficulties!". I know the Lich King would be hard, specially with such attempts, but hardcore guilds just bypassed that with alt raid anyway, so, might aswell level the playing field.

Anyways, we started the night with Sindragosa, which was released this week, and proved to be a bit harder then VaLOLthria, and after a demanding raid the previous night, with very frustrating low % wipes (specially a >4% wipe... grrr) and with the trash bugging on the following respawn (one of the drakes didn't spawn when we killed the 2nd one, so, he didn't land when he popped and Sindragosa was unattackable.. so we would have to soft reset - 30m+... yay), we went back eager for our payback, with a few tweaks on the setup, and, despite the tremendous amount of mistakes (blistering bomb - lol, >20k backlashes, and so forth), we were able to take it down, even after both tanks were down with around 5% to go? (not sure, it was something like that)... and we just zerg the crap out of her on our first attempt of the night! Sloppy, but a kill is a kill, specially in a timer when attempts still had some meaning!

So, the Frostbrood Queen was defeated, and all we have standing in our way until the hard modes was the Lich King... but before we could meet Tirion Fordring at the top of Icecrown Citadel, we still had some end-wing bosses, that were also defeated quickly, without much use of the attempts... As for the Lich King, we still had attempts to spare this timer, so we took as much benefit as we could from them, setting up for next week's full focus, where we hope we can accomplish a slightly relevant 1st kill. The fight sure is a challenge, and altough the mechanics are easy to predict and react to, punishment for any mistake is severe, garanteeing a wipe. This sure is going to be fun :). Well, at least with the removal of limited attempts we'll be able to just smash our heads at him until something fruitfull pops up, instead of having to plan attempt to attempt, tweaking and trying to take the most out of it.

No more offnights i say, back to hardcore raiding!

Oh, and screw you Blizzard! 1 Protector token out of 8 drops? Damn Vanquisher drops, ffs!

Need a rescue? Call 555-CORRUPTION.

Hey!

The wait is finally over. Icecrown Citadel is finally completely available, with the opening of the Frostwing Lair, and by that, having the path to the Lich King in our reach.

Before we ventured forth to the Frostwing Lair, we were asked by the Ashen Verdict to find and rescue Darnavan, an infiltrated member on the evil Cult of the Damned that seemed to be missing... We eventually ran into him while confronting Lady Deathwhisper - he seemed to be brainwash and couldn't distinguish friend from foe, so we had to deal with him aswell. The new ICC raid quests are a nice twist to already fun events, and we're looking forward for the next ones we face.

After saving Darnavan and being rewarded with some extra emblems of frost, a couple of epic gems, and the chance for a random epic BoE from the trash table (which we didn't get any!), we continued our march to the Frostwing Lair, eager to face Sindragosa... Before we could do so, we ran into a trapped dragon - Valithria Dreamwalker, from the Green Dragonflight, and we just couldn't leave an allied dragon behind, so we decided to step in!

The fight itself is rather original, with the whole "heal the mob to 100%" instead of just burning a <random foe>, and i really think our healers had a hell of a time with it, specially due to the fact that they get some uber power ups to make them heal even more, that was just crazy! While the healers had their fun, flying around, grabbing buffs and dishing out huge heals on VDW, the rest of the raid just laid back, controlling the waves of <piss easy> adds that came rushing towards us, trying to stop us from saving her, but, despite the originality and various types of mobs, it just isn't challenging enough... and we ended up rescuing Valithria real quick, oh well.

Well, it was odd because after we rescued her, she just flew out without much talk, and not even the loot chest managed to stay long enough to appear on the kill pic, oh well, it's a nice room at least!

After the rescue, we wandered by a bit more clearing the path for the end-wing bosses, and we expect to bring you more news soon enough this timer... Sindragosa, and even the Lich King, are in range.

See ya soon.
